How to Enter

Thank you for taking the time to submit material for this year’s VOX Awards. To celebrate the achievements of the creative media industry, we have put together a panel of experts to judge nine out of the ten categories. Our panel includes media professionals from production houses, post producers and senior creatives.

The Sayer Producer of the Year Award will be a public vote

This year we have ten categories, nine of which are being judged by a panel.

  • Best Imaging, S&P or Promo Voice
  • Best Retail / Service Message or Commercial (Instore / IVR)

Category descriptions

We want to champion the efforts of the best creatives and voices so its important that you provide as much background information as possible – this will affect the judging process. If there’s a juicy story behind your submission we’d love to hear it! All entries must have been aired/in-use in the UK between 12th May 2016 and 12th May 2017.

  • Best Regional Radio Commercial

Any UK broadcast regionally transmitted radio commercial.

  • Best Use of Music

Use of music on any UK broadcast TV or radio commercial, promo, imaging, online commercial, web video, TV show, animation, video game, cinema ads, documentary or audio book.

  • Best Visual Advertising Campaign (TV / Online)

Use of video on any UK broadcast TV commercial, promo, online commercial, web video or cinema ads.

  • Best Female Voiceover Performance (TV, Radio or Online)

Female voiceover performance in any UK broadcast TV or radio commercial, online commercial, web video, TV Show, animation, video game, cinema ads, public service announcements, documentary or audio book.

  • Best Male Voiceover Performance (TV, Radio or Online)

Male voiceover performance in any UK broadcast TV or radio commercial, online commercial, web video, TV Show, animation, video game, cinema ads, documentary or audio book.

  • Best Character Performance (TV, Radio, Online & Gaming)

Male or female voiceover performance in any UK broadcast TV or radio commercial, online commercial, web video, TV show, animation, video game, cinema ads or audio book.

  • Best Use of Humour

Any broadcast TV or radio commercial, online commercial, web video, TV show, animation, video game, cinema ads, documentary or audio book

  • Best Imaging, S&P or Promo Voice

Male or female voiceover performance on any UK broadcast TV, radio, instore, podcast, imaging and promo production.

  • Best Retail / Service Message or Commercial (Instore / IVR)

Any commercial, promotion or message aired in-store (retail), telephony, self service checkouts.

Any UK-based producer, sound engineer, creative or production house.

Formatting Labelling and Uploading files

We kindly ask that, audio files are sent in 320k Stereo .mp3 mastered at -6db edited to a duration of approximately 60 seconds. Please upload video files as .mp4 and label the files for both formats in the following way.

e.g. bestonlinemvoperformance_bogglesbuilders_JohnSmith.mp3

Failure do this will invalidate the entry, so please make sure this is correct before sending.

Submissions

It is possible to make multiple submissions. Please follow the above procedure when uploading audio, checking that all contact details are correct, the applicable audio is in the correct format and labelled as requested. We cannot refund entries made in error nor can we guarantee submissions which have not adhered to these guidelines.

The cost per entry is £30.00, or 3 entries for £75, except for The Sayer Producer of the Year Award, which is a public vote and free to enter.

All entries must be supplied digitally via the link which will be available on this site from 10am on 15th March 2017. Entries submitted in any other way, including by email or hard copy, will not be accepted.

Entries must be supplied as an mp3, or compressed mp4 and up to 60 seconds in duration.

No responsibility can be accepted for incorrectly uploaded entries or those that are illegible or corrupted. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.

All correctly completed entries for each category shall be forwarded to a judging panel, who will select a shortlist of entries for each category.

Judges have the right to include submissions in further categories.

Payment

After you’ve submitted your entry, you will be taken to a payment window. At this time transactions are completed on card payments only.

Short List & Results

After the judging process has been completed there will be a short delay before the shortlist is posted on the VOX Awards website. The final results will not be announced until the awards at VOX 2017 on 3rd June.

Terms & Conditions

1. DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES

Entries will be accepted through this website between 00:01 (GMT) on Wednesday, 15 March 2017 and 18:00 (GMT) on Thursday 4th May 2017.

2. ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the 2017 VOX AWARDS, you must be a industry audio professional or audio company at the time you submit your entry. Entrants must be eligible to work in the UK.

There can be only one named entrant per entry.

You may enter different awards if suitable.

You may not vote for yourself in the online public vote.

3. SUBMISSIONS

All entries must be supplied digitally via the link which will be available on this site from Wednesday 15th March 2017. Entries submitted in any other way, including by email or hard copy, will not be accepted.

Entries must be supplied as an mp3, mp4 or mov.

5. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  1. There is a £30 admission fee to enter the competition (or 3 entries for £75), except for the Public Vote, which is free.
  2. Closing date for receipt of all entries is 12:00 (GMT) on Wednesday, 26th April 2017.
  3. This competition is open to audio professionals working within the voiceover sector and may include Voiceover Artists, Producers, Creatives, Writers, Production houses, Agents, Engineers and anyone working within the audio industry with professional experience. Entrants must be eligible to work in the UK.
  4. No responsibility can be accepted for incorrectly uploaded entries or those that are illegible or corrupted. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
  5. All correctly completed entries for each category shall be forwarded to a judging panel, who will select a shortlist of entries for each category.
  6. The shortlists for each category will be announced on the VOX website by Thursday 25th May 2017.
  7. The shortlisted entrants will be contacted in writing (email) by Wednesday, 17th May 2017.
  8. No financial reward will be given to the winners.
  9. Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Promoter. The Promoter may, at its absolute discretion, vary or amend the competition and the terms thereof and the winners agree that, in such event, no liability shall attach itself to the Promoter.
  10. The decision of the judges is final and correspondence will be entered into only at the absolute discretion of the Promoter.
  11. The winners agree to take part in reasonable post-event publicity and to the use of their names and photographs in such publicity.
  12. Entrants acknowledge and agree that any print and photographs taken at the Awards which are publicised on the VOX websites, social media platforms are the property of Promoter. Entrants’ use of any material, including the items listed in the previous sentence, is limited to use in respect of this competition only. No further use shall be permitted without the Promoter’s prior written consent.
  13. All entrants hereby license to Promoter the use of their entry for display on any Promoter-owned or third-party website or other media for publicity purposes. Entrants further permit Promoter to display their entries in a physical exhibition. The choice of which entries are included in any such exhibition shall be solely made by the Promoter without consultation. Appropriate credits will be given to each item displayed, but Promoter shall not be under any obligation to hold such exhibitions, or to include every entry if it does.
  14. Each entrant warrants to Promoter that his/her entry is original, been broadcast within the UK market and have the right to enter this into the VOX 2017 Awards by any third party who were involved in the production of the material.
  15. Entrants will keep the Promoter harmless from any claims in relation to their entry alleging that the entry infringes the personal or proprietary right of any other person.
  16. Promoter will use any data submitted by entrants only for the purposes of running the competition, unless otherwise stated in the entry details. By entering this competition, all entrants consent to the use of their personal data by Promoter for the purposes of the administration of this competition and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented.
  17. Promoter may disqualify any entrant whose entry does not comply with these terms and conditions (in Promoter’s sole opinion) or who, in Promoter’s sole determination, has acted in a manner that is fraudulent, dishonest or unjust to other entrants including, without limitation, tampering with the operation of the competition, manipulating or rigging votes, hacking, deceiving, cheating or by harassing or threatening other entrants, the panel or a representative of Promoter.
  18. These terms and conditions are governed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and the courts of the same shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any claims arising out of or in connection with this promotion.
  19. All entries must have been aired/in-use in the UK between 12th May 2016 and 12th May 2017.
